1978 Star Wars Hammerhead

One of the coolest looking guys in Mos Eisley!  As I have said in the past, I’m not a huge Star Wars nut.  I am a fan the original films(have seen all of the prequels in theaters), and will watch them whenever I can.  I don’t think I ever had any Star Wars figures when I was a kid(I may have had a few, I’m not sure), mostly because I was into every other line that was out at the same time(the 80s were great!).  But as a child, how could you not like Star Wars?  For the past year or so, I have been picking up some of the vintage figures here and there.  Now I actually have a focus for this collection, and that’s getting the characters from the Cantina scene first(next, I’d like to get Max Rebo, and then the rest of the band).  In a recent post, I purchased a carded 1996 figure, and stated that I was interested in picking up one of the originals .  Well, last week I won this guy in an auction on Ebay, for the low price of 99 cents(+ $3 shipping).  His head is pretty loose, but that won’t affect him much, as he’ll soon be on display.

I have some other Ebay wins that came in, and they’re awesome!! So, stay tuned!

Cool Toy Show Pick-Ups #3 & #4!

Posted in Adventure, Toys with tags , , , , , , , , on April 25, 2012 by Jason

I wanted to get the last 2 pick-ups from the toy show, because I have something else I have to review.  It’s something I’m looking forward to, so let’s get the last 2 items out of the way.

Momaw Nadon, also known as Hammerhead.  I won’t say too much because I plan on opening, and reviewing this guy.  I really like all of the backround characters in the Star Wars movies, and Momaw here is one of my favorites.  I happily paid the $5 that was asked for him.  I would like to have one of the old-school figures of Hammerhead for my collection, but this one will do for now.

Next is what my buddy Dean(Deaner!) got me for my birthday(May 2).

Brad Turner, a.k.a. Condor.  This is the first M.A.S.K. figure in my collection!  This was the one I always wanted.  The only one I ever owned was Jackhammer(which is pretty cool), but Condor was my favorite of them all!  I actually di own this figure for a very short time.  I can’t remember the exact year, but a kid down the street actuall gave me the Brad Turner figure, and Condor!  Not only that, but he also gave my brother and I a plastic Sword of Owens(I’d love to find that again), and a huge stack of Garbage Pail kids.  He(the kid), was getting to the point where he felt too cool to be associated with this “kids” stuff, so that’s why we ended up with it.  But, my dad inquired about where we got these new found things, and then made us give them back!  Even though this one’s missing it’s windshield, it’s good enough for me.

So, not a bad haul, eh?  But I also got something else that day, but it wasn’t from the toy show.  We were out for my birthday, remember?!

3 Most Welcome Additions

Today, 2 of the 3 Ebay purchases I’ve made arrived in my mailbox(the third purchase is a box of hockey cards, so I’m sure you don’t care).  These were not impulse buys.  Rather, they were on my mental list, and the prices were fair enough.

First, here’s a character, who is more of an accessory.

This is Joe Eyeball.  Muckman’s sidekick(TMNT).  He’s one of only a few mini-sidekicks I had during TMNT’s domination of the world, which, of course, means I have a special place in my heart for this little guy.  He looks like he’d be a pretty cool guy to chill with.  Now all I need is Muckman’s garbage can backpack for Joe to be displayed perfectly.

But the next two figures are the ones I’ve been looking forward to most.

On the left, we have Six-Gill.  And on the right, we have Hammerhead(not very original on this one).  For those of you wondering, these figures are from Dino-Riders.  I had one or two of the dinosaurs, but I had 5 times as many of the figures.  You see, not only did these figures come with the dinosaur sets, they were also available in by themselves in 2 figure packs.  Six-Gill is the one I had most as a child.  I only remember this because he was paired with Orion(a good human), and Orion was my brother’s figure of choice whenever we came across the line(although my brother pronounced Orion as “Oar-ee-on”).  That was okay, because I thought shark people were far cooler than a generic looking human.

For so long I would always be outbid for just a single figure.  But I got lucky and found a by Buy it Now for this lot of 2 for the nice price of $6.00 + $1.75 shipping.  I’m going to try and get the other hammerhead shark figures(there are a few).
