Transformers Generations Thundercracker

At the very same Wal-mart that I found Wheeljack, I also found this awesome Decepticon(during the same visit).

Thundercracker, along with Starscream and Skywarp, were the original 3 seeker jets in the original Transformers series.  I was surprised to see the 2 figures I wanted in this wave at the same store at the same time.  I wasted no time in grabbing both of them.  It’s hard to beleive that there were actually 3 of these on the pegs!  First, we’ll take a look at the seeker mode.

I think my fascination with this line has to do with how much they are a tribute to the G1 Transformers.  The colors really pop here.  I find it amazing that the figures look this good, but are still able to evoke the nostalgia of the originals.  This was another figure I never owned as a kid(back then, I probably would’ve preferred Starscream), and it seems the ones I never owned are the ones that appeal to me the most.  If they release a Starscream and/or a Skywarp, I would get both, even though they would just be repaints.  And of course, he looks great in robot mode as well.

I have to say that I am very pleased with this purchase.  I can only hope that Hasbro continues to make these great figures(in my opinion, the movie ones just don’t have the “wow” factor).  This definitely gets my reccomendation, and another 10 out 0f 10.

I will be leaving for vacation tomorrow afternoon and won’t be back until Tuesday.  So I want to take this time to say have a happy and safe Independence Day, and remember all those who have fought and those who have sacrificed themselves to keep our wonderful nation free.

  1. Man, I’m still insanely jealous. Still no Wheeljack or Thundercracker in my neck of of the woods. I just have DOTM Thundercracker to settle with.

  2. Have a great 4th! This Thundercracker toy rocks. My Revoltech Starscream is one of my favorite figures. It’s one flaw is that it doesn’t transform. If they release a Starscream, I’ll have to pick it up so I have the best of both worlds.

    • They released the Starscream toy with the original Classics line quite a few years back. If I remember right, Thundercracker was the last G1 seeker to get the Classics/Generations treatment. Skywarp, Thrust, Ramjet, Dirge, and even newcomer Acid Storm got figures in this mold before he did.

      • I was hoping that they might do some re-releases in the Generations line. I would like to add Skywarp, Starscream and Soundwave to my collection, but people are asking ridiculous prices for something that is just going to be displayed. I will just keep hunting, and maybe I’ll get lucky and find the originals at a fair price.

    • You could just buy Thundercracker and paint him in Starscream’s colors. I heard they released him in another line a few years back, so it’s unlikely that we’ll see him. But he could end up coming out for the Generations line, you never know.

      • Like I said above, they released Starscream as part of the original Classics line (which became Classics 2.0, and now Generations), and I think about a year or so ago they released another Classics Starscream, but in the original G1 colors! Gah!

I never cared about recolors before, but since I now have the Main 3 Decepticons from the movie in Classics/Generations form (Galvatron, Cyclonus & Scourge), now I’m trying to track down the original versions. Already have Megatron and Thundercracker, but now I’m kicking myself over not picking up Skywarp. And he’s pretty sought-after online because he’s one of the original seekers.

Awesome! The Generations line has not failed to pleased one bit there is just some awesome figures.

    • I hope they keep this line going. There are so many more they could release, but I think Transformers Prime toys will be hitting shelves soon, so we’ll see what Hasbro’s gonna do.

  4. Your post reminded me that I still need to open my TC. I told my friend that I would do a photo shoot w/ this TC, my Botcon and Henkei! TC.

  5. […] I found Red Alert here at my local Wal-Mart about 5 weeks ago.  That’s kind of funny because I believe he is from the second Generations wave, and I first saw him when I was Christmas shopping last year.  My Wal-Mart is notoriously behind when it comes to new toys.  I found this figure within a week of finding Wheeljack and Thundercracker.
